Our Story

Menmin Made was created by Paulina Hoong to bring forward expressive watercolor plants + florals + food + AAPI-inspired art into this world.My experience as a Chinese restaurant kid deeply inspires my artwork. My parents immigrated to the U.S. in 1985 and started a Chinese restaurant in Minnesota. I spent more time in China Restaurant than I did at home, working weekends as a waitress since I've been 10 years old.I started Menmin Made in 2021 to explore what it means to be Chinese. "Menmin" is actually my Chinese name, and I named my business after it as a way to connect with my roots. I grew up in a small town in Minnesota and we were 1 out of the 2 Chinese families in town. Art has been a fantastic way to explore my own heritage! My goal is to make art accessible to people from all cultures and brighten up any space!
